How To Protect Your Family From Mosquitoes And Ticks This Spring

April 28, 2017

Mosquitoes and ticks are both parasitic pests that bite and feed on human and animal blood. As disturbing as that may sound, if a small bite that leaves behind a red itchy welt is all that their bites caused, we would all be ecstatic! Unfortunately, these pests don’t just bite, they carry and transmit some pretty serious diseases that we all need to be aware of and protect ourselves, families, and pets against. At Arrow Pest Control we want to provide you with the information you need about this year’s population of mosquitoes and ticks to help keep your family safer this spring.

You are probably well aware that both mosquitoes and ticks are responsible for carrying and transmitting some very serious and devastating diseases. Listed below is a quick reference of some of the many diseases that both spread.

Mosquitoes

  • West Nile Virus

  • Zika Virus

  • Encephalitis

  • Chikungunya

Ticks

  • Lyme Disease

  • Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever

  • Tularemia

  • Canine Ehrlichiosis

Due to the fairly mild and wet winter that New Jersey just experienced, numbers of both mosquitoes and ticks are expected to be high this upcoming summer. The very cold temperatures needed to kill off overwintering ticks and mosquitoes never happened, meaning that before these parasitic pests even get a chance to really start breeding there are already a lot of them around. Also, the mild temperatures have allowed both them and us to be more active outside earlier, increasing the likelihood of people, ticks, and mosquitoes running into each other earlier than usual. Basically, this past winter caused the perfect storm for high populations of mosquitoes and ticks to be found throughout New Jersey.

While all the above information may have you wanting to spend your entire summer inside, don’t fear, at Arrow Pest Control we have the services needed to control the numbers of both mosquitoes and ticks found on your property. Meaning that you can take back your backyard from these biting, annoying, and dangerous pests!

It would be nice if we could say we could completely eliminate these pests, but this simply is just not possible, so we provide our customers with the next best thing - our effective mosquito and tick control that greatly reduces populations! At Arrow Pest Control we combine the latest technology, equipment and materials to treat the areas on your property that mosquitoes and ticks live and breed in. We provide our customers with monthly treatments from May through September which helps to create a protective barrier around your property against ticks and mosquitoes!
